Industrial automation for Effluent Treatment Plant

BPC provides full automation to run Effluent Treatment Plant with efficient controlling over treatment process and minimum dependency on man power intervention. As a result, minimum use of resources like chemical, power, labour cost will be required to provide suitable atmosphere for sustainable development in the field of Waste water treatment technology.

Automation includes use of different types of online sensors, controller & PLC.

Automation of primary section like pH Adjustment, free & emulsified oil removal through TPI & DAF.

Automation of secondary section which mainly consists of Bioreactors.

Automation of Tertiary sections like Sand & Activated carbon filters, Disinfection units, Ultra Filtration, Reverse Osmosis.

Containerized sampling & control system, consists of sample tanks, automatic valves, online sensors, online analyzers and PLC.

Process Flow

Complete plant is monitored and controlled by One Centralized Sampling & Control System. Sampling & Control System receives samples from various locations of the whole plant and is connected to all equipment & instruments. Samples are analyzed and based on analysis values and readings received from other measuring instruments are collectively used by the PLC control system to decide output actions.

Primary Treatment

Primary treatment includes automation of primary section like pH Adjustment, free & emulsified oil removal through TPI & DAF etc, Suspended solids removal through Flocculation, coagulation& Primary clarifier, consistent feed flow in secondary treatment.

Various types of online sensors & analyzers are used. These are pH sensor, flow transmitters, Turbidity / TSS sensor, Oil analyzer, TOC analyzer.

As per the values received from these online sensors or analyzers, following automation is achieved using the PLC:

pH correction
Dosing of calculated amount of flocculant & coagulant
Removal of oil through automated rotation of oil pipe
Shock load of incoming oil & manual operation of oil removal system by rotating the oil slotted pipe in conventional API TPI system can upset the process, PLC controlled operation of oil removal system eliminates such type of conditions and keeps the process smooth.

Because all the calculations is done as per real time online parameters , so there will be only exact amount of dosing which is required. There will be no excess or less dosing.

Secondary Treatment

Secondary treatment includes the automation of secondary section which is basically Bioreactors.

Various types of online sensors & analyzers are used. These are Dissolved Oxygen, pH, TOC (Total Organic Carbon), TN (Total Nitrogen), TP (Total Phosphate) & Flow transmitters.

As per the values received from these online sensors or analyzers, following controlling is done by PLC:

pH correction
Dosing of calculated amount of nutrients
Run the air blowers as per the required amount of Dissolved Oxygen
Calculate OUR (Oxygen Uptake Rate) to check activity of biomass
Maintain optimum organic load to Bioreactors by adjusting direct and Bypass flow

Tertiary Treatment

Tertiary treatment includes the automation of Tertiary sections which are Sand & Activated carbon filters, Disinfection units, Ultra Filtration, Reverse Osmosis.

Automation is based on values received from online sensors like pressure transmitters, Flow transmitters, and Chlorine analyzer.

As per the values received form these online sensors or analyzers, following automation are achieved using PLC:

Automated backwash of Sand, Activated Carbon, Ultra Filtration & RO
Dosing of calculated amount of chlorine
Additional post treatment also provided if outlet quality is not achieved from conventional methods. These additional treatment includes chemical precipitation & settling and advance oxidation process.

Common Sampling
& Control System

BPC offers containerized sampling & control system. This sampling system consists of sample tanks, automatic valves, online sensors, online analyzers and PLC.

Some parameter analysis, especially for Bioreactor sample required settling of samples. Sample collection, settling & analysis is done automatically and controlled by PLC. Special shape is made to enhance settle ability of samples.

Sampling system receives samples from various location of plant
Samples are analyzed and test results are communicated to PLC. PLC controls the field equipment as per requirement
All equipment operation is interlocked with appropriate safety elements like operation of pump is interlocked with level transmitter, seal fail, moisture & overload relay
